Who Is J. Harris?

 

J. Harris is an inspirational Contemporary Christian artist born and raised in Washington Park, IL. Washington Park is considered to be a pretty bad area to some, but to him it’s no different than any other city. He graduated from East St. Louis Sr. High in 2001. After graduating from High School he attended Southwestern Community College to further his education in music. J. Harris is indeed a walking and living testimony in every aspect of his life. With growing up in what was labeled as a bad neighborhood he was faced with certain temptations and demons that led him to being addicted to cigarettes at a young age and being affiliated with certain gang activity. His upbringing and being surrounded by strong men of God eventually led him back to the church where he belong.

 

At the age of 17 J. Harris was called by God to Preach His Word and has dedicated his life to the calling since then. J. Harris is first Associate Minister/ Elder as well as Minister of Music at The Holy Ghost Chapel, Seek the Old Path Church of Christ, a devoted husband and excellent father to his children. He makes it his goal to put God, his wife, and his family before his music. He is the ultimate Man of God and lives his life to be pleasing unto Him. His faith has sustained him through many trials and tribulations throughout his life and uses his experiences to be a living testimony.

 

He has been a professional photographer for the past six years and is a member of the Professional Photographers Association (PPA). This business has afforded him numerous of opportunities to do what he is most passionate about which is Music. His musical career is just getting started but he has already touched so many with his first EP titled “No Spots No Blemish.” He is currently working on a new project that will have a greater impact and stronger message for all to relate to.

 

His style musically is distinct by the merging of two styles. He uses the depth of traditional gospel lyrically and it has a laid back soulful groove musically with a fusion of some dramatic tones here and there. His music comes from raw emotions and is created to impact peoples’ lives. J. Harris music is created to sooth, enlighten, warn, encourage and stir up a joyful praise and worship. His ministry and service to God is most important to him. Therefore his goals in music is really simple, “I just want people to hear the message that God has given me, I want to see souls delivered from the yoke of bondage and lives impacted by the word of God all over the world.” J. Harris is a star on the rise with God on his side.
